Prada Fall 2012 Shot by Steven Miesel

Is it just me or are fashion campaigns becoming more and more fun compared to the purely artistic ads and videos we were so used to finding? Between Alexander McQueen’s futuristic campaign (I wasn’t a big fan of those excessive visors though!) and Lanvin’s amazing Fall 2011 video in which Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmermann boogy to Pitbull’s I Know You Want Me (with a cameo from Alber Elbaz himself!). Prada quickly caught up with the trend with a hilarious campaign by Roman Polanski featuring Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Kinglsey and now for their Fall 2012 preview, they’ve released this fantastical clip.

Starring models Vanessa Axente, Magdalena Frackowiak, Madison Headrick and Elza Luijendijk amonst others, the whole video is perfectly Prada. Keeping the Virtual Princess theme of the Fall 2012 show, the campaign was shot by Steven Miesel and features a futuristic style chess game.

The bold geometric print from the collection is beautifully recreated in the futuristic furniture, even the models match their outfits with red dip-dyed hair.

Speaking of the campaing, the house of Prada stated,

‘Models are arranged in careful poses in the futuristic enclosure, the precise angle of an arm and an elegant neck echoing the geometry of the scene. Shifting camera angles and an endless depth of field create a playful illusion of perspective and proportion, recalling the setting for a videogame.’

I really hope to see more of these quirky campaigns from luxury designers but for now, here’s the Prada Fall 2012 video below!
